Alpha Phi Alpha Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference
Alpha Phi Alpha and Young Invincibles Presents

Equity in Education: A Fighting Chance
for Boys and Men of Color

Join Alpha Phi Alpha and the Young Invincibles for a community discussion on education and employment for boys and men of color and how we can "Close the Race Gap". The basis of this conversation will stem from a newly minted report produced by Young Invincibles on education attainment for boys and men of color. The report, featured in Forbes, the Washington Post, and on MSNBC's "The Cycle," examines the value of formal education for boys and men of Color when compared to their white counterparts. The study found that boys and men of color are a "degree behind" whites and looks closely at it's economic impact and disparities in employment in our communities. The report also makes common sense suggestions for increasing the Pell Grant and valuing college credits from community colleges.

Alpha Phi Alpha continues to support and build communities across the globe, empowering men, young and old, through national programs and initiatives such as, "Go to High School – Go to College" and "A. Charles Haston Brother's Keeper," among others.

This will be an in depth discussion about knowing your rights, dealing with the police, evaluating policy on police sentencing when officers commit crimes, and how journalism and the media can be used as a tool for change.

This panel is in honor of journalism great Chuck Stone who was well known for using his column to combat police brutality in Philadelphia. Chuck was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha and the founder and first president of National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ).

JUST ADDED TO FRIDAY'S PANEL!
